Israeli citizens have been banned from entering the Maldives
The Maldives has prohibited entry to the islands for those holding Israeli passports. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a recommendation to its citizens to refrain from traveling to the popular resort destination.
The decision to ban entry for Israelis was made by President Mohamed Muzammil, following recommendations from the local cabinet, as a sign of support for Palestine.
In response to this move, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised its citizens to avoid trips to the Maldives.
"In light of the Maldivian government's decision to prohibit the entry of citizens with Israeli passports, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Israeli citizens avoid any trips to the Maldives. The recommendation also applies to Israeli citizens holding passports from other countries," stated the diplomatic agency, as quoted by TASS.
The ministry also added that Israeli citizens who are already in the Maldives are advised to consider the possibility of departure, as "if they encounter any trouble for any reason, it will be difficult for the authorities to assist them."
It's worth noting that approximately 15,000 Israeli tourists visit the island nation annually.
