Incident at the Nicosia border: Stones and improvised explosive devices thrown toward Yiğitler Burcu Park
In Nicosia, an incident occurred at the border between Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Cyprus. According to sources, groups of Greek Cypriots who gathered on the southern side of the city to mark the anniversary of the EOKA organization staged a provocation near the border.
It is reported that during the day, stones, sticks, and improvised explosive devices were thrown from the Republic of Cyprus side toward Yiğitler Burcu Park, located in the TRNC. Civilians were in the park at the time.
Following the arrival of TRNC police and Turkish military personnel who took security measures, the attackers, including masked individuals, left the border area.
The TRNC Presidency reported that after the incident, communications were initiated with the UN and the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
