Güngör Solid Waste Facility to Be Privatized
The Central Tender Commission of the TRNC has approved a proposal to privatize the Güngör solid waste facility by awarding operational rights. A tender has been announced for this process.
According to the announcement, bids for the tender must be submitted to a designated box in the Central Tender Commission's meeting room at the Ministry of Finance by 12:00 PM on September 4.
In a June statement, the Chamber of Environmental Engineers highlighted that the 30-year-old Güngör landfill, which was built in 2013 with funding from the European Union, is nearing its capacity and will soon be full. The operation of the Güngör facility has been put up for tender by the Local Authorities Directorate of the Ministry of Interior.
It is also noteworthy that the landfill has experienced recurring fires in recent years.
