TRNC Wheelchair Basketball Team Wins Preliminary Round of European Cup
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) national wheelchair basketball team “Vakıflar” has triumphed in the preliminary round of the European Cup, held in Italy.
Following their impressive victory, the athletes and their coaches were welcomed by TRNC President Ersin Tatar and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel at the new Presidential Palace.
President Tatar, who has followed the federation’s work for years, praised the team’s dedication and acknowledged the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.
“Your success is our success. The work you do in representing the TRNC is extremely important when it comes to modern values. Sport is a right. What you’re achieving is not only a testament to human resilience but also a proud symbol of our international presence. These accomplishments bring pride and recognition to our country,” said Tatar.
He extended his congratulations to all team members and everyone involved in their success, wishing them continued achievements in the future.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel also highlighted the government's support, announcing that with backing from the Central Bank, a new vehicle will be provided to the TRNC Disabled Sports Federation.
“This success is entirely the result of our athletes’ personal dedication and hard work. I congratulate every one of them for bringing pride and happiness to our country,” the Prime Minister said.
