KTAMS: Hunger threshold for a family of 4 — 34,887 TL

The KTAMS union (Cyprus Turkish Civil Servants Union) calculated that as of October 31, 2025, the monthly minimum for a healthy diet for a family of four is 34,887 Turkish lira. The union emphasizes that official inflation does not reflect the real rise in the cost of living.
The calculation is based on recommendations from the Ministry of Health’s Hospital Treatment Department on healthy nutrition and average prices from the Statistical Office. For a balanced diet, a family needs exactly this amount for groceries.
Distribution by family member:
- Adult woman: 300.94 TL per day (9,028.20 TL per month).
- Adult man: 314.05 TL per day (9,421.50 TL per month).
- Child 15–19 years: 330.80 TL per day (9,924 TL per month).
- Child 4–6 years: 217.12 TL per day (6,513.60 TL per month).
KTAMS stresses: this is the minimum for a full diet, not accounting for other expenses.
Inflation understated According to the Statistical Office, inflation in October 2025 was 1.09%, and for July–October it was 16.01%. However, the union criticizes the consumer basket (base year 2015=100): it is outdated and does not reflect the real cost of living.
