The Forestry Department has launched an investigation due to illegal tree cutting in Boğazköy

The department denied claims that the trees at one of the construction sites were allegedly cut with the permission of the Forestry Administration. The official statement emphasizes that these accusations do not reflect the truth.
It is reported that regarding this site, the Town Planning Department applied to the Forestry Administration for an official opinion on the project. During the inspection, it was established that the area contained both forest and fruit trees, after which the Forestry Administration prepared a detailed position.
The document sent to the responsible parties clearly outlined the conditions:
- prepare a measurement and inventory plan of all trees (ağaç röleve planı) on the site;
- identify the trees that may overlap with the construction footprint;
- if any of them are forest trees — apply to the Forestry Administration for a cutting permit;
- if approved — carry out the cutting in the presence of a forest inspector;
- for each cut tree, plant 10 new forest trees.
However, as the department notes, the landowner ignored these requirements and carried out the cutting without any permission.
The Forestry Administration stated that legal procedures have already been initiated regarding the illegal cutting and emphasized that it will continue to monitor such cases and respond within the framework of the law.
