The Council of Ministers in Northern Cyprus has sent the newly approved minimum wage back to the Minimum Wage Determination Commission for review. The decision, made in response to objections from labor unions, has been officially published in the Official Gazette.

According to the document, the first minimum wage of 2025, which had already been approved, is now under reconsideration following protests from the Turkish Cypriot Trade Unions Federation (TÜRK-SEN), the TRNC Free Trade Unions Federation (KKTC Hür-İş), and the Teachers' Union (KTÖS).

On January 17, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission set the monthly minimum wage at 37,818 TL (43,469 TL before taxes). While the decision was approved by a majority vote, worker representatives opposed it.

Labor unions were given 10 days to submit objections, and they exercised this right by filing an official protest.
