Ministry: 12 people without residence permits detected during checks in Northern Cyprus
The Ministry of Interior reported that during checks at entry and exit points in Northern Cyprus yesterday, 12 people without residence permits were identified.
According to the ministry, the checks are carried out by the Migration Management Center under the Ministry of Interior in coordination with the kaymakam offices and the General Directorate of Police. During recent raids at controlled approaches to the regions, 128 people were checked; among them, 12 did not have a valid residence permit.
In Kyrenia, checks were conducted jointly by teams from the Kyrenia Kaymakam office and the Lefkoşa Kaymakam office. In Famagusta, entry and exit point inspections were supported by forces from the İskele Kaymakam office. Legal procedures and deportation processes have been initiated for the individuals identified.
It was reported that two individuals attempted to evade the checks and were quickly detained by police officers. The ministry stated its intention to continue combating illegal residence in a systematic, coordinated, and resolute manner across the territory.
Residents of Northern Cyprus should be aware that checks at entry and exit points will continue, and the identification of individuals without proper documents will result in administrative and migration measures.
