Turkish Foreign Minister Concludes Two-Day Visit to the TRNC
Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has wrapped up his two-day visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and departed from the island. The minister and his accompanying delegation left Ercan Airport for Istanbul on Thursday evening.
During his time in Northern Cyprus, Minister Fidan met with TRNC President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Speaker of Parliament Ziya Öztürkler, and three key ministers responsible for foreign affairs, tourism and culture, youth and environment, and public works and transportation. He also held discussions with leaders of various political parties.
Earlier, at a joint press conference with Ersin Tatar, the Turkish foreign minister stressed that the isolation imposed on Turkish Cypriots has "turned into a silent crime against humanity." He also underscored the need for the international community to recognize the status of two sovereign states on the island of Cyprus.
- "We are resolute in showing our solidarity with the TRNC and offering our full support to Turkish Cypriots," Minister Fidan declared at the conclusion of his visit.
Turkey's Ambassador to Nicosia, Metin Feyzioğlu, also reflected on the visit through social media, describing the two-day trip as "highly productive."
