Transport Minister Reveals Population of TRNC
The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı, has disclosed that the population of Northern Cyprus is approximately 411,000 people. This figure corresponds with data previously provided by the Statistical Institute of the TRNC.
During an appearance on the "Masada" program on Ada TV channel, Minister Arıklı mentioned that "the world no longer confines people to their homes and conducts censuses," as "such matters are now globally managed based on statistical projections."
"The Statistical Institute reported that the population of our country is 411,000 people. Developed countries determine their population figures using projections. However, in our country, there is an ideological group that refuses to accept this. According to their data, the population of the TRNC has reached one million people. They made their own forecasts based on the amount of bread and school buses. This is, of course, ridiculous. I trust the figures of the Statistical Institute," stated the minister.
It's worth recalling that in November of last year, the President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, announced the official population figure of 410,000 people. In his statement in May, the head of state indicated that the official population figure is 407,000 people.
Subsequently, attempts were made to estimate the population of the TRNC based on the amount of waste generated in the country. According to calculations, this figure could reach 825,000 people.
