Minister of Transport Discusses Problems of Rental Companies: “This Is Important for the Future of Tourism”

The Minister of Public Works and Transport, leader of the Rebirth Party (YDP) Erhan Arıklı, held a meeting with the head of the Car Rental Companies Association, Cemal Ayaz, and representatives of the sector. The main topic was the accumulated problems of the industry, which plays an important role in the development of tourism in Northern Cyprus.

During the meeting, Ayaz stated that the draft law prepared by the Association is already ready and asked for the minister’s support for its prompt submission to parliament for a vote.

According to sector representatives, one of the serious problems remains the illegal rental of private vehicles, which causes significant damage to official companies. The sector also faces difficulties due to the inability to extend operating permits for vehicles older than 10 years, which creates an additional financial burden.

Minister Erhan Arıklı emphasized that the car rental market is an integral part of the country’s tourism infrastructure.

“The sector’s problems cannot be ignored. Their resolution is extremely important for the future of tourism,” the minister stated, adding that the government is ready to take the necessary steps and amend legislation where the sector’s demands are justified.
