The minister shared this information on the “Sabah Postası” program on the Kıbrıs Postası TV channel.
“We need to impose very strict penalties,” stated Erkhan Arykli.
According to the decisions made, in order to prevent traffic accidents, fines for drunk driving will be increased, and vehicles with a blood alcohol content exceeding 150 mg/l will be immediately confiscated. Additionally, the country plans to install 146 radar cameras.
It has also been decided that confiscated vehicles will be towed to the parking lots of district municipalities, and arrested drivers will be taken to court. Confiscated cars will remain in the impound lot until the conclusion of the trial.
“Municipalities will prepare private parking lots and will receive money for each day a confiscated vehicle stays,” explained the minister.
