The Ministry of Health continues a large-scale modernization of the healthcare system of Northern Cyprus. This was announced by Minister Hakan Dinçyürek while summarizing the ministry’s work at a press meeting.

According to him, construction of the new hospital in Nicosia is planned to be completed by the end of 2027, while the hospital in Kyrenia is already ready and is currently at the stage of installing medical equipment. The equipment is expected to arrive within a month, after which the facility will be able to start receiving patients. At the same time, hospital projects are being implemented in four regions of the country.

The minister noted that delays have arisen at a number of sites due to additional work that emerged after the initial deadlines. At the same time, the hospital in Güzelyurt is planned to be completed within the current schedule, and the hospital in Pamuklu, located near a tourist area, should be ready by the end of 2026.

Regarding personnel policy, it was reported that around 200 young specialist doctors undergoing mandatory training abroad will return after its completion and join the TRNC healthcare system.

The development of primary healthcare also continues: medical centers in Maraş, Lapta, and Değirmenlik have been opened and modernized. The minister emphasized that a strong healthcare system is impossible without a developed network of basic medical services.

For emergency care, 16 fully equipped new ambulances have been purchased, and four more will arrive in the near future. This has significantly strengthened the response capacity of the service.

According to official data, more than 1.64 million medical examinations were conducted in Ministry of Health institutions in 2025, and the number of surgeries and medical interventions exceeded 32,600. In dozens of settlements across the country, repairs, modernization, or construction of medical facilities have been carried out.

The minister noted that robotic treatment methods and artificial intelligence-based solutions are also being introduced, and work to strengthen the healthcare system will continue.
