Bi-communal Marathon for Peace Day to Be Held in Cyprus
The annual bi-communal marathon “From Coast to Coast” will take place in the buffer zone of Nicosia. The race will unite runners from Kyrenia and Larnaca.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 23. The marathon spans a total distance of 85 km, with runners starting simultaneously from the castles of Larnaca and Kyrenia.
Rest stops for marathoners are planned in Limnia and Dikomo (Dikmen).
There will also be four additional stops for people who wish to join the marathon along the way. On the northern side, the checkpoints will be at: Kyrenia Castle, Bellapais, Dikmen, Nicosia Stadium, Ledra Street/Lokmaci intersection, and Eleftheria Square. On the route toward Larnaca, checkpoints will be at Limnia, the University of Cyprus, Academic Park, and Eleftheria Square.
For those who don’t plan to run the full marathon, shorter runs of 1, 3, 6, 10, and 20 km will also be available.
Participants in both routes will run from Eleftheria Square to the House of Cooperation.

“The road race, organized for International Peace Day, exemplifies the power of cooperation and how sport can transcend borders to unite the people of Cyprus,” said Jahongir Khaydarov, Head of the UNDP Representation in Cyprus.
Last year, around 200 runners participated in the event held for International Peace Day 2023.
