Pay gap recorded in Cyprus between Cypriots and foreign workers
The newspaper “Fileleftheros”, citing data from the Statistical Service, reported differences in the average monthly earnings of Cypriots and foreign workers by sector for 2024 in Cyprus.
According to the publication, in the financial and insurance services sector, foreign workers earned an average of €6,172 per month, while Cypriots earned €4,129. In the information and communication sector, the average income of foreign workers was €5,083, compared to €3,197 for Cypriots.
In agriculture, forestry, and fishing, the situation was the opposite: Cypriots earned an average of €1,677, while foreign workers earned €650 per month.
Overall, according to the Statistical Service, the average gross salary for 2024 was €2,506 for Cypriots and €2,434 for non-Cypriots. The newspaper notes that the “Cypriots” category includes Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots registered in the social insurance system, while the “non-Cypriots” category includes all other foreign workers.
