Athlete from TRNC to Compete at the Paris Olympics Today
Buse Savaskan from the TRNC will participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris today. The high jump competition featuring Buse Savaskan will take place at 11:15 AM at the Stade de France.
At the Paris Games, the Turkish Cypriot represents the Turkish national team. The National Olympic Committee wished Buse Savaskan success in a social media post.
There is significant attention on her performance today in Northern Cyprus as well. TRNC Prime Minister Ünal Üstel also wished the high jumper success in a social media post.
"I wish success to Buse Savaskan, one of our country's star athletes, in the qualifying competitions she will participate in at the Paris Olympics," the Prime Minister wrote.
Buse Savaskan was born on February 24, 1999, in Cyprus and began her international sports career at the European Athletics U20 Championships held in Tbilisi in 2016.
It was previously reported that the Northern Cyprus representative ranked 28th in the world and is among the 32 athletes competing in the high jump at the Olympics. Her coach is Ukrainian specialist Gennady Zuev.
A total of 102 athletes from the Turkish national team will compete for medals at the Paris Olympics.
