Malfunctioning of the traffic lights at the entrance to Kyrenia
In Northern Cyprus, on Monday morning, the traffic lights in front of the Kyrenia municipality malfunctioned due to a fault. Similar breakdowns have occurred on this stretch before.
According to local media reports, the traffic lights broke down on this busy street known as the old Girne roundabout. The malfunctioning signals caught the attention of residents, who captured the situation on video at the problematic road section.
It is reported that the malfunction of the traffic lights could have caused traffic jams and increased the number of accidents, especially during peak hours. Details of the incident and the cause of the breakdown are not provided.
It is worth noting that earlier it was reported that as part of the road traffic modernization project, the roundabout at Girne - known as the Girne roundabout - was transformed into a dynamic intersection. The area in front of the Kyrenia municipality building was renamed "Rauf Raif Denktaş Square."
