Northern Cyprus Revises Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
Northern Cyprus has implemented changes to the eligibility requirements for scholarship support. These revisions to the Scholarship Regulations were published in the “Official Gazette” and come into effect as of today.
The document states that modifications were made to Article 3, which outlines the criteria for students enrolled in higher education institutions.
Under the new regulation, students applying for scholarships must have either completed their final year of secondary education at a school in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) or have graduated from any high school while permanently residing with their family in Northern Cyprus.
However, this condition does not apply to children of public officials working abroad, students attending vocational schools, art schools, or conservatories in Turkey under protocols signed between Turkey and Northern Cyprus. Additionally, this exemption covers doctors applying for designated TRNC quotas based on results from TUS (Medical Specialization Exam) and students whose permanent residence is in the TRNC and whose parents have passed away.
To be eligible for a merit-based scholarship, students must reside permanently in Northern Cyprus with their families, be graduates of a Northern Cyprus school, or have completed any school while permanently residing in the TRNC.
Applicants must also be Northern Cyprus citizens and meet additional specified criteria. Applications can be submitted via the Higher Education System at https://yobis.mebnet.net.
