North Cyprus Discusses Flu and Seasonal Infection Situation

A consultative meeting on the flu epidemic and seasonal infectious diseases was held at the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The participants concluded that there is no reason for concern.

The meeting was attended by the President's health advisor, the Director of the Primary Healthcare Department at the Ministry of Health, a public health and preventive medicine expert from the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association, and the Vice President of the Freelance Doctors Association.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health briefed the President on general information about seasonal flu, viruses, and symptoms. They also compared this year's data to last year's statistics.

According to the information presented, the situation is under control and is no different from what is typically seen every year. Both the Turkish Cypriot Medical Association and the Freelance Doctors Association confirmed that there is no major flu epidemic in North Cyprus this year.

At the end of the meeting, the participants were informed that there has been no increase in flu cases or hospitalizations in intensive care units due to the flu compared to last year.

The focus of the meeting was primarily on reminding the public about general hygiene practices and the importance of following them. The group also discussed the responsibilities and precautions that individuals and communities should take, especially during epidemics.

It was pointed out that this year, fewer people in high-risk groups have been vaccinated compared to previous years. The participants highlighted the importance of getting vaccinated against seasonal flu.
