Northern Cyprus Celebrates Kurban Bayram: Presidents of TRNC and Turkey Exchange Holiday Greetings
In Northern Cyprus, a five-day holiday began last Sunday in honor of one of the main celebrations in the Islamic world – Kurban Bayram.
TRNC President Ersin Tatar spoke by phone with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and congratulated him on Eid al-Adha.
The festive prayer was performed in all TRNC mosques on Sunday at 06:10. The celebration will last for four days, with five days of holidays.
On the first day of the holiday, the head of Northern Cyprus and his wife hosted a ceremonial reception at the presidential residence.
The event was attended by Speaker of the Republic Assembly Zorlu Töre, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Chief Justice Bertan zerda, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Nicosia Metin Feyziolu and his wife. Commander of the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces Major General Sebahattin Klç, Commander of the Security Forces Major General Osman Aytaç. It was also attended by some ministers and members of parliament, military officials, and public representatives.
In his statement to the press, President Ersin Tatar noted that Turkish Cypriots have preserved their culture and traditions for many years and expressed happiness at celebrating Kurban Bayram together this year.
On the first day of the holiday, the head of Northern Cyprus also spoke by phone with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. During the call, Ersin Tatar congratulated the Turkish leader and the entire Islamic world on the holiday, wishing them health, peace, and prosperity.
Additionally, the Turkish Cypriot leader informed the President of Turkey about the preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, which will take place on July 20. He also mentioned the upcoming summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Shusha (Azerbaijan), in which he will participate.
In response, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated President Ersin Tatar on Kurban Bayram and wished that the holiday would bring benefits to all Turkish Cypriots and the entire Islamic world.
