Water Supply from Turkey Shut Off in Northern Cyprus
Girne faced serious water supply issues on Monday morning due to electricity disruptions in the Geçitköy area, forcing authorities to completely cut off the water flow from Turkey.
Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul shared the news on his social media, informing residents of the problem.
According to the mayor, the flow of water from Turkey had already been unstable since last week.
However, the situation worsened on Monday. By morning, the water supply from Turkey was completely shut down due to ongoing power outages, prompting authorities to urge citizens to "use water sparingly."
Authorities are doing everything possible to meet the water demand using local resources, but until the issue is resolved, water will be distributed in alternating cycles.
While utility services work to identify the cause of the problem, residents are being asked to be mindful of their water usage.
