In the TRNC, checks are ongoing to ensure that sellers at meat shops and markets comply with the maximum price set for lamb. The cost of meat should not exceed 550 Turkish liras per kilogram.

According to the Minister of Economy and Energy of the TRNC, Olgun Amcaoğlu, checks at meat selling points continued throughout all the festive days.

In total, 282 trading points were inspected over the 9 weekend days. Fines were imposed on four vendors.

It is worth reminding that before the beginning of the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, within the framework of the signed "Protocol on Determining the Maximum Price in Small Livestock Farming," the maximum price for lamb meat was set at 550 Turkish liras per kilogram. Representatives of three ministries will be responsible for monitoring the meat prices.

Since the start of the holidays, groups from the Ministry of Economy and Energy, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of Agriculture have begun checking meat prices in stores.

Minister of Economy and Energy of the TRNC, Olgun Amcaoğlu emphasized that after the end of the long weekends, checks in stores and markets will continue.

It should be noted that residents of the country can report violations of the maximum allowable meat price to the consumer complaint hotline at number 171.
