In Northern Cyprus, a mass anti-corruption march will take place
In the TRNC, a group of 30 organizations has planned a mass anti-corruption march. The procession will take place in the evening on Friday, April 26th, at 18:00. According to local media, participants of the protest action will gather on Dereboyu Street, and then march to the Assembly of the Republic.
One of the organizers of the march is the Cyprus-Turkish Union of High School Teachers (KTOEÖS).
In their statement, the union accuses government officials of corruption, bribery, and plundering natural resources, and calls for holding the guilty parties accountable.
"The echelons of power, political figures supposedly managing the country, and their close associates - all of them are beneficiaries of a system tainted by theft, corruption, bribery, and exploitation rampant in the northern regions of our island," the union's statement reads.
The march will start on April 26th at 18:00 at Dereboyu Citroen lights.
It is worth reminding that earlier it was reported that today teachers in Northern Cyprus will hold a sit-in strike.
