In Northern Cyprus, it was decided to confiscate cars from drunk drivers and translate the rules into Russian
The Traffic and Transport Services Commission of the TRNC convened to address road issues. The commission had not met for three years until yesterday.
The commission held a meeting on "Issues and Measures in Road Traffic." The meeting took place yesterday in the conference hall of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport under the chairmanship of Minister Erhan Arikli.
At the commission meeting, four important decisions were made. The minister will inform the Council of Ministers about three of them within 15 days, and legislation will be prepared for one decision, which will be submitted to parliament no later than three months for approval by the Council of Ministers.
One decision was to conduct driving training in schools in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and to select a pilot school for training.
A decision was made to conduct student driver's license exams in written form. Previously, they were conducted orally.
It was also decided to translate the Traffic Manual and exam questions into three languages - English, Russian, and Arabic.
Within 15 days, the minister will inform the Council of Ministers about these three decisions made by the commission.
Additionally, the commission also decided to confiscate vehicles from individuals who consume alcohol above a certain level and to tow the confiscated vehicles to the parking lots of district municipalities.
The necessary legal regulation of this decision will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for presentation to parliament no later than three months.
