Children’s Care Homes Opened in Northern Cyprus
The "Houses of Love" project, created by the Turgul Ünal Çağiner Foundation, has officially opened in Northern Cyprus. Located in Haspolat, these homes were established to provide children under state protection with care in a warm and home-like environment.
The project was realized through a protocol signed between the TRNC Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Turgul Çağiner Children’s Aid Foundation.
The newly inaugurated facility will care for and protect a total of 61 children—25 will live in the main building, and 36 in surrounding bungalows. Children and young people currently under state protection will be moved to these homes. Additionally, the existing children’s home in the Çağlayan district will be repurposed as a center for autism care and support.
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including TRNC President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu, and Turkey’s Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
In his address at the ceremony, President Tatar praised the efforts of everyone involved in the project and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Çağiner family for their invaluable contributions to society. He also highlighted the family’s donation of 60 million Turkish lira for the construction of the facility, calling it an exemplary act that should inspire other business leaders to engage in similar philanthropic endeavors. The President further emphasized the importance of Turkey’s ongoing support in bringing projects like this to life.
