In Northern Cyprus, the Chairman of YÖDAK has changed
The President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, appointed a new chairman of the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation, and Coordination Council (YÖDAK). Professor Aykut Hojanin has been appointed.
The new chairman of YÖDAK has been appointed for a term of 4 years, starting from today. The evening before, the head of Northern Cyprus informed Aykut Hojanin of his duties and wished him success in their execution.
Ersin Tatar also emphasized that the main task of the new head of YÖDAK would be the effective restructuring of higher education. The President of the TRNC noted that some legal changes are on the agenda following consultations held with the Prime Minister in cooperation with the government.
The head of Northern Cyprus expressed confidence that Aykut Hojanin, who has both national and international experience in management, will make a significant contribution to this process.
It is worth recalling that the position of the head of YÖDAK became vacant after the former head of the Council, Turgay Avji, resigned due to legal proceedings initiated against him. He had been heading the organization since April 2021.
Professor Aykut Hojanin graduated from the Nicosia Turkish Maarif College in 1988. In the same year, he began studying at Rice University in Texas, USA, and in 1992, he received a degree in electrical and computer engineering. The professor also obtained a master's degree in the USA and a doctorate from Bosphorus University. He has been teaching since 2003. In 2007 and 2014, he was appointed head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at EMU. He was subsequently appointed Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at EMU.
He participated in the accreditation processes of many universities at the national and international levels from 2020 to 2023.
