First Presidential Earthquake Conference Begins in Northern Cyprus
The First Presidential Earthquake Conference of the TRNC has officially started at the Atatürk Cultural Center of Near East University in Northern Cyprus.
The two-day conference, which kicked off today at 10:00 AM, features six sessions focused on earthquake risk management, seismic activity monitoring, building safety, urban planning, and search-and-rescue operations.
During the event, experts will analyze past earthquakes and assess the likelihood of future seismic activity in Cyprus. Discussions will also center on measures to reduce earthquake risks in the TRNC.
Attending the conference are TRNC President Ersin Tatar, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, President of the “Champion Angels” Life Preservation Association Rüşen Karakaya, as well as leading academics and specialists from Turkey and the TRNC. Representatives from universities, NGOs, search-and-rescue teams, the military, and law enforcement agencies are also participating.
In addition, organizations such as the TRNC Civil Defense Organization, the Turkish Red Crescent of Northern Cyprus, and other relevant institutions have set up informational booths around the conference venue to provide further insights to attendees.
