Mobile base stations for emergency communications are being introduced in Northern Cyprus

The Minister of Public Works and Transport of the TRNC, Erhan Arıklı, visited Vodafone Telsim and familiarised himself with a new generation of mobile base stations that have been integrated into the communications system of Northern Cyprus. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the regulator BTHK.
According to the minister, during earthquakes, floods and fires, communications often become critically important for coordinating services, and such mobile solutions make it possible to quickly restore coverage even in difficult field conditions.
What is known about the new stations:
- they support 2G/3G/4G and are ready to work with 5G infrastructure if needed;
- thanks to a hydraulic system, the antennas can be deployed within minutes;
- silent generators are used for autonomous power supply;
- they are suitable not only for emergencies, but also for concerts, sports matches and other mass events when network load increases sharply.
It is also reported that the Telsim fleet has been expanded with seven “emergency” stations: four mobile units and three trailer-based units.
