Two businesses temporarily closed in Northern Cyprus due to labor and sanitary violations
In Northern Cyprus, inspections conducted by the Department of Labor revealed serious violations of occupational safety rules and sanitary requirements. Following the checks, two businesses received orders for temporary closure until the violations are corrected.
The inspections were part of scheduled oversight of enterprises in various regions of the country. Working conditions, compliance with safety rules, technical condition of equipment, and the presence of required permits were examined. At one facility, it was found that staff worked without personal protective equipment and the equipment posed a health risk to employees. At another business, inspectors noted unsanitary conditions in the premises and the absence of mandatory documents required by law.
In total, 21 workplaces were checked during the raids. Official reports were filed against the violators, and the materials were forwarded to the prosecutor’s office. The Department of Labor stated that inspections will continue, and in the case of repeated violations, permanent revocation of business licenses is possible.
The agency emphasized that the purpose of these measures is to ensure safe working conditions, protect employees’ health, and increase employer accountability for compliance with labor legislation.
