Imported apples and local cucumbers with pesticides were identified in Northern Cyprus
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus announced the results of the inspection of imported and local vegetables and fruits from November 24 to 30.
Excessive residues of plant protection agents were found in imported apples, and pesticide residues were found in local cucumbers and mangoes.
According to the research results, out of 42 imported samples, 40 turned out to be safe, and two types of imported apples exceeded the limit of plant protection agents. One batch of apples was returned to the country of origin, and the second batch was destroyed at the request of the supplier.
Among domestic products, 16 out of 18 samples were clean, and two were found to contain unauthorized pesticides. This concerns cucumbers from Cemalbey village by Janer Safel and mangoes from Chamlybel village by Nihat Aydin. Both unsafe batches of vegetables were destroyed.
It is noted that the results obtained from the analysis conducted in the State Laboratory through the sampling of samples of imported and domestic products were evaluated in accordance with the pesticide content limits used in the European Union.
