Three Drunk Driving Accidents in One Day in Northern Cyprus

In Northern Cyprus, three accidents caused by drunk drivers occurred in a single day. All incidents took place on Sunday in Famagusta and Alsancak. Two people were arrested, and a criminal case was initiated against one individual.

According to the police press office, the first accident happened in the Palm Beach parking lot in Famagusta. The driver of a car collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction and fled the scene.

Later, the police identified and arrested the perpetrator, a 34-year-old man. An alcohol test revealed he was drunk at the time of the accident. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The second accident occurred on Cahit Sitki Taranci Street in Famagusta. A 45-year-old woman, driving under the influence of alcohol, lost control of her car and crashed into a parked vehicle on the right side of the road. The impact caused the parked car to hit another vehicle in front of it. No injuries were reported in this incident either. The woman driver was arrested.

The third accident happened in the evening on Karaoglanoglu Street in Alsancak. A 59-year-old intoxicated man lost control of his car, which veered off the road, struck the pavement, and overturned.

The driver, who was injured in the accident, was taken to Akcicek Hospital in Kyrenia and released after treatment. A criminal case has been initiated against him. The police investigation is ongoing.
