17 People Arrested for Stealing 2,500 Garlic Bulbs in Northern Cyprus
In Güzelyurt, police have arrested 17 individuals suspected of stealing 2,500 garlic bulbs from a field. The court has detained all members of the gang for three days.
The 17 suspects, all from Bangladesh, appeared in court. According to a police officer, the investigation began after a local farmer reported the theft of 2,500 garlic bulbs.
During the investigation, police tracked down the suspects. They were arrested on July 13 in workers' homes in Bostancı. During the search, 28 kilograms of garlic were found and seized from their residences.
At the court hearing, the police requested that the detainees be held for three days for further investigation and questioning by the immigration office. The judge agreed to this request.
