Powerful Storm Winds Approaching Northern Cyprus
A new storm warning has been issued for Northern Cyprus as strong southwesterly winds are expected to sweep through the region. According to the TRNC Department of Meteorology, the warning is in effect from 6:00 PM today until 3:00 PM tomorrow. Wind gusts could reach up to 7 on the Beaufort scale. Residents are advised to take extra precautions.
In addition to the storm alert, three other weather warnings remain in place. The risk of wildfires is still high, UV radiation levels are extreme—people are advised not to stay in direct sunlight for more than 15 minutes—and dust from North Africa continues to linger in the atmosphere.
