Date Set for TRNC President's Meeting with UN Secretary-General
TRNC President Ersin Tatar is scheduled to meet with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in New York. The bilateral meeting will take place as part of the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
The talks between the President of Northern Cyprus and UN Secretary-General Guterres are set for September 28, with the meeting expected to start at 6:30 PM TRNC time.
On September 23, Secretary-General Guterres met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. The Greek Cypriot leader reiterated his willingness to participate in a trilateral meeting at any time to discuss the Cyprus issue.
As reported earlier, President Tatar arrived in New York to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly. On his way to the United States, the Turkish Cypriot leader had a stopover in Ankara, where he met with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.
President Tatar departed for the U.S. from Ercan Airport on Saturday at 4:50 PM and is expected to return to the TRNC on Sunday, September 29, at 8:00 PM.
