Nigerian Student Caught Stealing Perfume, Chocolate, and Ice Cream from Erülkü
A Nigerian citizen has appeared in court in Northern Cyprus for stealing items from the Erülkü supermarket in Demirhan. The thief filled his pockets with ice cream, chocolates, perfume, and spices and left without paying.
The 21-year-old Jeremiah Edobor was brought to trial. During the court session, it was revealed that the theft occurred on June 29 around 9:30 PM. The suspect, who had come to the Erülkü supermarket for shopping, took Ad Nike perfume, M&M's, Bounty and Snickers bars, a pack of spices, Algida Milka ice cream, and four Bolci filled chocolates from the shelves. He stuffed these items, with a total value of 588.60 TL, into his pockets and left without paying.
The police reported that the suspect was caught red-handed. All the stolen items were found on him and were confiscated as evidence. He was taken to court, which ruled to keep him in custody for three days for investigation. It is known that the young man is in the country with student status.
The judge prohibited the suspect from leaving the country until the trial and ordered him to be tried without detention, provided he pays a cash guarantee of 20,000 Turkish lira and reports to the police four days a week.
