The Society of Northern Cyprus called for the opening of Ercan to international flights

The Turkish Cypriot Culture Society stated the necessity of direct international flights to Ercan Airport and the cessation of existing restrictions. The organization reported this on November 17 in an address on the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of the formation of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The Chairman of the Society, Tolga Yunsaldı, called November 15, 1983, a "most important turning point" for Turkish Cypriots and their struggle for freedom, sovereignty, and equal status. According to him, any settlement of the Cyprus issue is only possible with the recognition of the factual realities on the island and the political equality of the two communities.
Yunsaldı also emphasized that the proclaimed independence of the TRNC and Turkey's support remain significant security guarantees for the population. Among the priorities are the opening of Ercan Airport for direct international flights and the removal of isolations which, in the organization's view, negatively affect the economy and international contacts.
In the address, the Society honored the memory of public figure Fazıl Küçük and the founder and first president of the TRNC, Rauf Raif Denktaş. The organization expressed gratitude to veterans and congratulated the residents on the 42nd anniversary of the republic's formation.
The statement reflects the official position of the Turkish Cypriot Culture Society on the status of the TRNC and international air traffic.
