The Cyprus and Turkey Civil Servants Union (KTAMS) has revealed that the hunger threshold for a family of four, as of October 31, is 27,082 TL.

According to a study conducted by the union, the essential daily costs for a healthy diet are as follows:

  • For an adult male: 242.77 TL per day, 7,283.10 TL per month.
  • For an adult female: 232.13 TL per day, 6,963.90 TL per month.

  • For a child aged 4–6: 170.82 TL per day, 5,124.60 TL per month.

The report was compiled by the Department of Stationary Medical Institutions of the Ministry of Health of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, using a nutrition plan for a family of four and the corresponding food costs.

The Statistical Institute of the TRNC provided the price analysis used in the report.

According to the statement, the institute’s bulletin indicates that in October, the cost of certain food products from the major food groups, which were used to calculate the hunger threshold, decreased. As a result, the overall cost was lower than in the previous month.

It is also worth noting that the Statistical Institute of the TRNC recently announced the country’s inflation rate. In October, inflation stood at 3.22%. Compared to December of the previous year, prices increased by 50.45%, and compared to the same period last year, they rose by 65.65%.
