A donkey has been shot by hunters on the Karpas Peninsula and is now in critical condition. The condition of the animal was reported by Kemal Basat, the director of the Tashkent Nature Park.

The injured donkey was discovered in the Karpas region last Sunday. Veterinarians found numerous pellet wounds on its body. In a statement on social media, an animal rights advocate sharply criticized the perpetrators, referring to them as “nature terrorists” within the hunting community.

“These so-called humans roam nature with hunting rifles, granted permission by the state. The fact that such a psychopathic killer holds a hunting license creates the conditions for these kinds of events. Incidents like this also cast doubt on the actions of legitimate, law-abiding hunters,” wrote the director of the nature reserve.

Kemal Basat also expressed his gratitude to the responsible hunters who called the wildlife support hotline at 1190 to report the injured donkey.

Teams from Tashkent Nature Park and the Department of Environmental Protection were quickly mobilized to try to save the animal. According to experts, the process of cleaning and treating the donkey’s wounds will be costly and challenging.
