The tourism sector of Northern Cyprus has begun to feel the serious consequences of the conflict in the Middle East. According to Mehmet Kıral, General Coordinator of the Salamis Bay Conti Hotel, the number of booking cancellations has risen sharply in recent weeks.

He noted that cancellations are coming not only from Middle Eastern countries but also from Europe. As a result, during the Ramadan Bayram holiday period, average hotel occupancy may be around 35%, whereas approximately 55% was previously expected.

Kıral emphasized that tourism plays a key role in the country's economy. According to him, hotels annually purchase about 3,000 types of goods, products, and technical materials, with expenditures exceeding 150 million euros.

In Kıral's opinion, to support the industry, it is necessary to increase incentive measures and improve transport accessibility, including more active development of international flights through Ercan Airport.
