The Alaköprü Dam in Turkey, which supplies water to Northern Cyprus via an undersea pipeline, has reached 100% capacity. For safety reasons, Turkish authorities have opened the spillway gates.

According to official information, the discharge is being carried out in a controlled manner at approximately 150 cubic meters per second. The water is being directed into the Dragon River in the Anamur region (Turkey).

It is emphasized that these are safety measures within Turkish territory. There are no flooding risks for Northern Cyprus, and the water supply via the pipeline continues as usual.

Turkish authorities have urged residents along the riverbed to take precautions and follow official announcements. The discharge volume may be adjusted depending on weather conditions and rainfall levels.
