Postal Service: 36 Branches and 165 Employees in Northern Cyprus
The head of the Postal Service, Yakup Iskender, stated in a message on the occasion of World Post Day on October 9 that the Postal Service in Northern Cyprus serves the population through 36 branches and 165 employees, providing services from Lefke to Dipkarpaz.
Iskender noted that January 6, 1964, is considered the founding day of the Cyprus Turkish Post and that currently the postal service performs a universal function in terms of access to information.
According to Iskender, modern postal services include not only the traditional delivery of letters but also the transport of any legal items in the form of parcels, money transfers, payment collection, and other related services.
The Postal Service also sells postage stamps, and the philatelic service offers stamps and items for collectors, which, according to him, helps to present the country.
Iskender reminded that the Cyprus Turkish Post started operations with a stamp featuring the crescent and star and that despite difficulties during the Cyprus Turkish Administration and the Autonomous Administration, after the 1974 operation, the creation of the CTCA on February 13, 1975, and the establishment of the TRNC on November 15, 1983, the postal service continued to develop, offering stamps, first-day covers, catalogs, albums, and parcel and money transfer services.
Residents in Northern Cyprus have access to purchase postage stamps and philatelic editions, send parcels, make money transfers, and pay through the Postal Service branches.
