"FOOD POVERTY LINE" Calculated in Northern Cyprus in April
The Cyprus and Turkey Civil Servants' Union (KTAMS) has announced that the food poverty line for a family of four as of April 30th is 23,559 Turkish Lira.
According to research conducted by the union, the compulsory expenses for healthy nutrition are:
for an adult male—211.04 TL per day, 6,331.20 TL per month;
for an adult female—201.53 TL per day, 6,045.90 TL per month;
for a child aged 15-19—223.50 TL per day, 6,705 TL per month;
for a child aged 4-6—149.24 TL per day, 4,477.20 TL per month.
“Thus, the monthly expenses that a family of four must bear to have healthy, balanced, and adequate nutrition amount to 23,559 Turkish Lira,” KTAMS statement said.
The report was prepared by the Department of Stationary Health Facilities of the Ministry of Health of the TRNC, taking into account the dietary scheme necessary for a family of 4 and the cost of products from this scheme.
Price analysis was provided to the union by the Statistical Institute of the TRNC.
Recall that earlier, the Statistical Institute of the TRNC announced inflation in April at the level of 6.91 percent. Compared to December of last year, prices have increased by 22.98%, and the annual inflation rate is 95.60%.
