For a child aged 4-6 - 142.49 TL per day, 4,274.70 TL per month
The report was prepared by the Department of Inpatient Institutions of the Ministry of Health of Northern Cyprus, taking into account the dietary scheme necessary for the healthy nutrition of a family of 4 and the cost of products from this scheme. Price analysis was provided to the union by the Statistical Institute of Northern Cyprus.
It is worth noting that according to official data from the Statistical Institute, inflation in the country was 3.84% in January 2024 and 4.59% in February. Over two months, the overall inflation rate was 8.60%. The annual inflation rate was 85.71%.
The president of KTAMS, Güven Bengihan, noted that the food basket used as the basis for calculating the minimum living standard has not been updated in the country since 2015.
"We demand an urgent update of the food basket to eliminate the situation where the supplement to the minimum living standard, which is crucial for protecting workers' purchasing power, becomes meaningless," said the union leader.
