The TRNC police denied reports of a baby being thrown into a trash bin
The TRNC police press service refuted media reports claiming that an unidentified foreign woman allegedly threw her two-month-old baby into a garbage container. After verification, this information was not corroborated.
Earlier, information circulated in some media and social networks suggested that a foreign citizen residing in a complex in the Kyrenia Bogaz area had discarded her 2.5-month-old baby into a trash bin.
The message asserted that the woman in question was apprehended by the police in the act, and the child was taken under the protection of the Department of Social Welfare.
According to the police, this information does not align with reality.
The police statement mentioned that immediately upon receiving the distress signal, the police conducted a thorough investigation and necessary environmental examinations.
"At the scene, the trash containers were emptied, and required searches were conducted. No evidence was found," emphasized the statement.
During further investigation, the foreign citizen, who was alleged to have thrown her baby into the trash, was personally identified by the police at her residence, both in good health.
"The content of the aforementioned news is entirely unfounded. We remind the press not to create news based on information obtained from hearsay without consulting authorities," the police statement said.
It's worth noting that earlier, the director of the Department of Social Services, Alev Egevit, denied reports of a baby being thrown into a garbage dump. She emphasized that neither the police nor the department had data confirming this information.
