Prime Minister of TRNC Reelected as Chairman of the National Unity Party
This past weekend, the 23rd General Assembly of the National Unity Party (UBP) was held in Northern Cyprus. During the congress, Ünal Üstel, the Prime Minister of the TRNC, was reelected as the party leader.
The congress took place on Saturday, September 21, at the Atatürk Sports Hall in Nicosia. Voting began at 12:45 and continued until just before midnight. In addition to the incumbent leader, candidates included Ahmet Melih Karavelioglu and Hasan Tako.
With 10,171 delegates participating, Ünal Üstel was confirmed as the party chairman once again.
The congress also elected members to the party council and the higher disciplinary board.
In his remarks, UBP Chairman and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel expressed that the 23rd regular congress was a success. He thanked all delegates for their trust and support.
Ünal Üstel assured that under his leadership, UBP will continue to work for the benefit of the TRNC people, ensuring stability and aiming to remain in power until 2027.
Several ministers and the President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, have already extended their congratulations to the Prime Minister on his election victory.
