During his visit to Turkey, the President of Azerbaijan invited the TRNC leader to the Turkic states summit

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made a working visit to the Republic of Turkey. During the trip, the Azerbaijani leader invited the head of Northern Cyprus to the summit of Turkic states, which will take place in July of this year in the cultural capital of the Turkic world – Shusha.

The head of the Azerbaijani state arrived in Turkey on an official visit on February 18th. On February 19th, Ilham Aliyev and his accompanying delegation visited the Anıtkabir mausoleum in Ankara, where the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, rests. President Aliyev laid a wreath at the mausoleum and then left a message in the Anıtkabir Memorial Book.

Ilham Aliyev was received by the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. After the high-level meeting, the leaders of the two countries held a joint press conference.

During the media communication, Ilham Aliyev noted that this was his first visit to the fraternal country of Turkey after the presidential elections. The Azerbaijani leader emphasized that Turkey is a guarantor of peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.

"The unity of Turkey and Azerbaijan is an important factor not only for the region but also for Eurasia," said the Azerbaijani leader.

Ilham Aliyev reminded that an unofficial summit of Turkic states will be held in July of this year in the cultural capital of the Turkic world – Shusha.

"TRNC President Ersin Tatar will participate in the summit, which will take place in Shusha, upon my invitation. This will accelerate the unity of the Turkish people. The consolidation of the Turkic world and the coexistence of peoples with common cultures will strengthen the power of each member of the Organization of Turkic States," concluded the President of Azerbaijan.
