TRNC President Honors Winner of TEKNOFEST Drone Championship
TRNC President Ersin Tatar attended the awards ceremony for the winners of the drone championship, held as part of TEKNOFEST TRNC — the world’s largest aviation, aerospace, and technology festival — which will take place at the old Ercan Airport from May 1 to 4.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, held at the Near East University Drift Track, President Tatar expressed his happiness at meeting the participants who traveled to the TRNC for the festival.
The Turkish Cypriot leader noted that preparations for this major event had been underway for six months. The drone piloting championship, organized over the weekend, marked the festival’s first official event.
Congratulating the young participants, Tatar emphasized that TEKNOFEST in North Cyprus is expected to attract thousands of people with a passion for science, space, and aviation.
He also announced that the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will attend the festival on May 3.
"It is important that companies that have proven themselves in Türkiye’s national defense industry are also participating in this festival, where thousands will compete in a range of events. I would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making it possible for TEKNOFEST to be held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus," Tatar said during the ceremony.
This year, for the first time, TEKNOFEST — the world’s largest space and technology festival — will be hosted in the TRNC. The event will run from May 1 to 4 at the old Ercan Airport, with participant registration already open.
