The President of the TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) met with the head of the Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent, Sezaı Sezen
President Ersin Tatar received Sezaı Sezen and his accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on the further development of the organization, blood donation, and the Cyprus issue.
The leader of Northern Cyprus emphasized that the Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent is one of the most important institutions, a fact well-recognized by the people of the TRNC who endured challenging conditions in the 1960s.
The President also discussed the topic of further strengthening and enhancing the potential of the Red Crescent, which could happen in the future.
Ersin Tatar emphasized that if the globally recognized Red Crescent in the TRNC collaborates with counterparts on the Greek side, it would be beneficial to both communities. However, the administration of the Greek Cypriots currently avoids such cooperation.
In turn, the President of the Cyprus-Turkish Red Crescent, Sezai Sezen, provided the head of the state with information about the organization's activities and its updated charter.
He also noted that half of the 18,000 units of blood needed by the country annually are covered through voluntary blood donation campaigns organized by the Red Crescent.
