TRNC President Issues Address for the Night of Power
Ersin Tatar, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), recorded a special message in honor of the Night of Power. In his message, he extended wishes of peace, tranquility, and happiness, expressing his hope that this sacred night would bring abundance, mercy, and brotherhood to humanity.
“We are experiencing the Night of Power, which marks the approach of the blessed Ramadan holiday. This is a time when feelings of love and brotherhood reach their peak. The Night of Power is one of the most significant nights in our religion, a time when the mercy, forgiveness, and grace of the Almighty Allah are fully revealed to humankind. Today, we need unity, solidarity, and brotherhood more than ever,” said the president in his address.
The Night of Power falls tonight, on the 27th night of Ramadan. The Quran describes this night as "better than a thousand months."
In Islam, the Night of Power is considered a blessed night when the Quran was first revealed. It is seen as a night when the gates of heaven open, and prayers and repentance are accepted. This is the only night specifically mentioned in the Holy Quran.
It’s also worth noting that in 2025, the first day of Ramadan was on February 28, and it will end on March 29. Muslims observed suhoor (pre-dawn meal) from February 28 to March 1, and the first iftar (breaking of the fast) took place on the same day.
The Night of Power will be commemorated on March 26. Following the conclusion of the fast, Sunday, March 30, will mark Eid al-Fitr (Uraza Bayram), the festival celebrating the end of Ramadan.
