Unions have named the number of Turkish Cypriots working in the Republic of Cyprus
The Federation of Greek Cypriot Unions (SEK) has named the number of Turkish Cypriots working in the Republic of Cyprus. The Turkish Cypriot press claimed that the number of such workers reached 10,000. Unions cite a figure 3-4 times smaller.
Greek unions refuted claims that 10,000 Turkish Cypriots work in the Republic of Cyprus. According to official data from the Federation of Greek Cypriot Unions (SEK) representative, the number of such workers is around 3,000.
According to the official, it is unlikely that Turkish Cypriots are working illegally in the south, but they are also difficult to identify.
At the same time, the General Secretary of the Greek Federation of Leftist Unions (PEO), Sotirula Hristodulu, stated that the number of Turkish Cypriots working in Cyprus fluctuates between 2,500 and 3,000.
A statement from the President of the Turkish Cypriot Workers Union (TÜRK-SEN), Arslan Bicakli, is also cited, who also gives a figure - 2,500-3,000 people.
